New Year is coming!

December came, and this means that very soon we will celebrate the New Year! The annual tradition of the “Helping Hands” partnership is the organization of New Year and Christmas parties for children from orphanages, disabled children and children in difficult life situations.

We sincerely thank all our partners and sponsors for their cooperation and assistance in organizing and holding previous events and invite you to take part in the planned holidays in January 2019. New Year and Christmas parties will take place on January 6, 2019 in the nightclub “Cuckoo” for children with disabilities (60 kids); and on January 7, 2019 in the Hotel Lotte for children from social institutions from all over the Primorsky Territory (200 kids). An entertaining program will be organized for children, each child will receive a gift, and a festive table will also be organized for them. We invite you to take part in this large charity project. «Let’s have fun!»

November 22, the Arseniev Museum continued to acquaint children from the Rehabilitation Center "Parus nadezhdy" with the "pearls" of the exhibition "Map of Russia. Milestones of history" from the collection of the Moscow Kremlin Museums. The regular excursion within the “Let's Have Fun!” project introduced exhibits from the main treasury of the country, many of which are shown for the first time outside the Kremlin. By the way, Primorye was honored to be the first region to host exhibits of the oldest museum in Russia.

On November 27, the inmates of the "Parus nadezhdy" rehabilitation center in the Primorsky Territory had fun with the volunteers of the “Helping Hands” charity partnership. We try to come to these children in order to slightly dilute the situation and smile with the children, tell them life stories and listen to them, give some advice, support someone and just express understanding. In two hours you cannot change their lives, but you can change their mood for today and create pleasant warm memories. Volunteers from the Student Teaching Brigade S.T.E.P. and other student teams proved to be true culinary professionals, and all because together with the kids they cooked "rolls" of an incredible size with sausage, cheese, vegetables and greens.

The guys all together washed and cut the products, smeared the lavash brought with different sauces, laid out the stuffing in the invented order and twisted. Afterwards everyone eagerly waited for the kettle to boil for tea. And the volunteers did not lose their head and began to actively communicate with the host side, found out what were their goals in life, what they were missing and what they really wanted. They came to the conclusion that next time we can come with board games and just play together. And then we cut our huge "wrappings" into rolls and ate the resulting snacks with pleasure. The folks were happy, and the teachers had a little rest and poured their hearts, found support in our eyes - and this is great, because their work is not very easy. Time passed unnoticed, but we hope that these two hours have become the very white stripe for children in their difficult life "zebra." If an idea has arisen in your thoughts to help someone, we will be happy to assist in its implementation or to send your energy on useful track. The world needs good people, the world needs you!

«Way to success»

In November, the director of “Helping Hands” Partnership Francis Landivar continued the seminars in English with readers of the “BUK” library. Meetings are held on Saturdays. The title of the next regular meeting, which took place on November, 17, “How to win friends and influence people” was a reference to the title of the book by American educator and writer Dale Carnegie. This world bestseller Francis decided to discuss with his audience.

The topic of the previous seminar on November, 3 - “How to overcome fear” - successfully preceded the topic of relationships between people, because the basis of most people's relationships is fear: the fear of being misunderstood, rejected by society, not having like-minded people. Francis reviewed some of the life rules set by Dale Carnegie. The fear of making mistakes dictates us not to admit our mistakes and find satisfaction in others' mistakes. But it must be recognized that any living person has a tendency to make mistakes, and to accept and acknowledge this is the first step towards successful interaction with others. People like to talk about themselves, and simply having listened to the person and letting him know that he is interesting, without directly pointing out his mistakes and weaknesses, one can achieve the affection of a potential friend. Conversations with Francis are not only useful for learning English, but they motivate people to remember important things and be inspired by the positive example of the speaker.

«English corner»

During the autumn holidays, on November 3, in the children's library No. 7 in the “English Corner”, there was utter agiotage. This time a lot of children and their parents came. The topic was “Sports”. The children, along with volunteers of the student pedagogical brigade “S.T.E.P.”, learned many new sports words: volleyball, basketball, ball, hockey, judo, chess, handball. Kids found out how these words were formed and why they are pronounced like that. To fix the learned words, children played a game: they tried to assemble the correct word from the cut syllables. It was not quite easy, but they did it all, especially since library books on the English language had a great help. We remind that classes within the “English corner” project are held on Saturdays from 4:00 to 5:00. Any child with any level of language training can come to the event, but most meetings are focused on beginners. Parents, if desired, can also attend events.

«Older brother, older sister»

October 29, in the "Center for assistance to orphans and children left without parental care number 1 in Vladivostok" (formerly Children's House No. 4 in Vladivostok) a workshop "Autumn Leaflets" was held for the inmates of younger and middle age groups. The kids very cheerfully and all together made one big tree: each glued the leaves on the twigs so that they could hang there all winter. And then each participant came up with the colors of his leaf and made a bright application. The most important thing in this event was that a lot of young and ambitious volunteers took part in it, and they gladly embraced, played and fooled around with the kids. During each visit, we do something useful for the children: we teach them to cut, draw or glue, but more importantly, the attention they receive from socially positive people. We thank our volunteers – members of different Student Groups for their active participation in organizing and holding this event and the project sponsors for the possibility of implementation of these programs.

November 12, the "Center for assistance to orphans and children left without parental care number 1 in Vladivostok" opened the doors to our volunteers, who came to hold fun games and a master-class "Dream Fish" for inmates of younger and middle age groups. The kids are very excited when they see how many different cheerful young volunteers come to visit them. During the visit, the volunteers organized competitions on the widest fish smile, on the most even harmonica, on the kindest fisheye, and much more, and the kids were very involved in the process. In the end, according to tradition, each participant received a sweet gift and a big hug. We thank our volunteers and sponsors for their active participation in this event.

On November 23, our smiling volunteers from the Student Teaching Brigade S.T.E.P. came to the Boarding School of Vladivostok. The guys held a lesson with the children from the oldest and middle age groups. Each participant plunged into the atmosphere of the underwater world: we recalled fish and marine mammals, learned a poem with motions about fish from an aquarium and how they eat. Played a great game that develops imagination and coordination. The kids imagined themselves as marine inhabitants and showed them, and then we all joyfully guessed them. In the second part of the lesson, we all together made a merry fish with a tail, a fin, a small eye and a smile, and then took pictures and hugged. The children got a charge of cheerful emotions and a nice little sweet surprise: yes, it wasn’t very useful for the teeth, but just right for their wide smiles! We remind you that if you want to become a member of our volunteer projects or to do something on your own, and you need support in this, we will be happy to help.

November 26, volunteers from the Teaching Brigade S.T.E.P. and from other student teams took part in our main program "Big Brother, Big Sister". The guys visited "Center for assistance to orphans and children left without parental care number 1 in Vladivostok" with a cheerful and creative master class and active games. Together, they jumped, ran in search of the quietest mouse, hid from the cat, built a birdhouse of people for a huge bird, remembered what birds are like, how they differ from each other, learn about new ones. Each child made a beautiful birdhouse out of paper and painted it as he pleased. At the end of the lesson, the children received sweet gifts and strong hugs from our caring volunteers. We are very pleased that many volunteers come to visit the children not once or twice, but have become regular guests - children get used to them, open their hearts, and this creates a favorable atmosphere for the development of their personality. We are also grateful to the personnel of the Center for their trust and for the fact that doors of this institution to us are always opened to us! Let's work together to make this world kinder and better every day

On November 28, an inmate of the Rehabilitation Center “Parus Nadezhdy” Alexander participated in our joint with the dental clinic “Implants” project “Smile”. Every time we address the words of appreciation to our wonderful partner, because The “Smile” project is probably the only opportunity for such children to receive efficient help from the professionals!
