Then they went inside and made a drawing competition. The kids drew funny pictures, laughed and communicated with their older friends.

Program «Adaptation of orphans-graduates to independent life»

On November 5 we organized a meeting for the orphans who came to study in Vladivostok colleges. “Helping Hands” supports orphans-graduates in their studies. At the meeting we discussed possible difficulties and challenges which the orphans can face when taking their first exams.

On November 19 we organized one more meeting for the orphans. Volunteers from the city resource center lectured the teenagers about the danger of drug and alcohol use. President of Vladivostok sports fund Valery Kalyuzhny offered the teenagers a healthy alternative – to go in for sports and promised to help those who would like to come into sporting clubs.

On November 23 our charity partnership “Helping Hands” together with Primorsky Children Fund organized a visit to the circus for the orphans. The teenagers said the circus was great fun and that they were really glad to go. “We were happy to have this chance to go to the circus because our routine life and studies are boring and we don’t have many opportunities to have fun,” they admitted.

Program «English club»

On November 6 we organized a regular English lesson in the rehabilitation center «Parus Nadezhdi». Partnership “Helping Hands”, together with foreign language school “English Planet”, implements this program in order to give the kids in a difficult life situation some practical knowledge that will be of use in their future life.

The topic of the lesson was «young cooks” and the children learnt many words about food, drinks and eating habits. They wrote their own recipes and menus and then presented their ideas in English language. The children learnt English in an easy and funny way. They solved puzzles, participated in contests and drew pictures. Teachers from language school “English Planet” and Francis Landivar, director of a non-commercial partnership “Helping Hands” believe that learning English language can be both useful and enjoyable!

Program «Let’s have fun!» Excursion to «Sollers» auto-making plant

On November 7 Partnership «Helping hands» organized an excursion for teenagers from the rehabilitation center «Parus Nadezhdi» to «Sollers» auto making plant. Teenagers like visiting the plant where they have an opportunity to learn more about car-assembling lines. They enjoy looking at the process of assembling of new cars. Children are told which professions are the most required at the plant. Boys admire production capacity and hi-tech machinery.

Kids in a difficult life situation often have problems finding their path in life, and such excursions can help orient them in the world of professions and possibilities.

On November 15 we organized two English lessons for Vladivostok kids in city’s libraries. The project is carried out together with centralized Vladivostok library system and volunteers of "STEP" group. The children learnt new words on the topic “School”. The parents had a chance to talk with a psychologist who consulted them on how to develop and keep family ties and become best friends for their little ones.

The parents and the kids together played games and participated in a master class. In the end of November another meeting of the family club was held. On November 26 Francis Landivar held 2 seminars in school № 13 in the frames of the project to develop right moral values in teenagers. The topic for the discussion was important – how to develop a character which will help one to become a goal-oriented person. Francis told teenagers about egoism and how it can derail people’s careers and personal lives. He also gave children examples how they should pursue goals and be ready to face challenges. «You should have dreams and decide clearly and independently how to make them come true. You need to be active, forget laziness and never give up,” Francis teaches teenagers.
